The Thanksgiving Window: Capturing Your Whole Family While Everyone is Home

The hardest part of planning a large family portrait session isn’t picking out the perfect wardrobe or getting the kids to smile. The real challenge is logistics.

With adult children scattered across the country for careers, kids away at college, and grandparents living in different states, getting your entire family into one room is a rare milestone. Getting everyone together on a beautiful Southern California beach is almost impossible.

That is why the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday weekend is the most valuable window of the entire year for extended family portraits.

🦃 Why Thanksgiving is the Ultimate Portrait Opportunity

For a few short days this November, the logistical nightmare solves itself. Everyone is already flying in, lodging is booked, and your entire inner circle is gathered in one place.

Instead of waiting for another year to pass, this holiday weekend is your chance to capture a legacy portrait that features three, or even four, generations together in a single frame. As an experienced family photographer in Newport Beach, I specialize in managing large groups, keeping the energy light, and turning a massive family reunion into a relaxed, beautiful experience along the coast.

🌊 Choosing Your Location: Between the Tides or at the Estate

When scheduling a holiday session while the whole family is in town, you have two incredible options depending on your family's timeline:

The Newport Beach Pier or Corona del Mar shoreline: Ideal for families who want that iconic, sun-kissed golden hour lighting with beautiful sand reflections. It is the perfect backdrop to show out-of-town relatives the beauty of the coast.
An On-Location Private Home or Estate Session: If traveling down to the sand with elderly grandparents or very young infants feels too chaotic on a holiday weekend, I can bring the entire professional studio experience directly to your backyard or living room.

⏱️ Booking Your Holiday Window Before It Closes

Because Thanksgiving week is the only time these massive family reunions happen, calendar slots for the holiday weekend fill up incredibly fast.

Don't let this rare moment slip away simply because it's hard to coordinate schedules later. Let’s take advantage of the one time everyone is already home together.
